Work crews began an intensive cleaning of the historic Eddystone Hotel which will soon be redeveloped into residential housing in the shadow of the new Little Caesars Arena.

Olympia Development will soon restore the 13-story, Italian Renaissance-style building into nearly 100 residential units, 20 percent of which will be designated as affordable housing.

Opened in the 1920s, the Eddystone is one of four buildings that The District Detroit development will revive into residential housing with first floor retail.

This week’s cleaning revealed details of the intricate, white terra cotta windows uncommon in today’s architectural landscape.
