Detroit Students Learn More About Construction at Career Days

Nearly 500 students from Detroit were invited to learn more about the construction industry at the annual Michigan Construction Career Days recently. Olympia Development of Michigan was a proud sponsor of the event at the Operating Engineers 324 Training and Education Center in Howell, Mich. on May 5 and 6.

Students from Cass Tech High School, Randolph Career and Technical Center, Osborne College Preparatory Academy, Cody’s Public Leadership Academy and Detroit Institute of Technical College Prep High Schools and others from around the state were invited to do everything from operate heavy equipment to learn carpentry skills under expert supervision to learn about careers in the industry as well as educational pathways available in construction.

As part of its effort to invest in the next generation of Michigan’s workforce, Olympia Development of Michigan (ODM) joined forces with state and local partners and served as a Gold Sponsor of the two-day event. ODM is the Ilitch organization leading the development of The District Detroit.
