Eastern Market Farm Stand Returns to The District Detroit

019 Farm Stand

The Eastern Market Farm Stand has returned to Columbia Street in The District Detroit.

The stand, located in Columbia Plaza between Lots 1 and 2 near Comerica Park, returned June 6 and will continue to operate every Wednesday through Sept. 26 to coincide with Michigan's prime growing season.

Operated by Detroit’s historic Eastern Market, the farm stand can save area employees and other downtown dwellers a trip to the grocery store by providing affordable, fresh produce and Michigan-made snacks within walking distance.

Items for sale include fruit, fresh greens, root vegetables and other cooking staples. Currently, the stand is also selling snacks made by Living Zen Organics of Hamtramck and locally-produced honey.

Frequent stand visitors this year can take advantage of Eastern Market’s new Farm Stand Loyalty Program, which allows regulars to earn cash rewards and discounts. Regular patrons will receive $5 off when they sign up for the program and check-in four weeks in a row and $5 off when they spend $50 or more. Customers will also earn a $0.25 discount when they bring a reusable bag.

Staffed by Eastern Market Corporation fellows and nutritionists, the stand on Columbia Street also distributes free recipe cards and has plans to add seasonal, locally-grown produce to its inventory by early July.

The stand has operated in The District Detroit since 2012. Business hours will run from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., pending inclement weather.

For convenience, payment methods accepted are cash, credit/debit, SNAP Bridge Cards, Double Up Food Bucks, WIC Project FRESH and Senior Market Fresh. Click here for more information.
