Woodside Bible Church in Detroit will serve the Cass Corridor and greater metropolitan community a free Christmas dinner at the Detroit School of Arts on Dec. 10, 2017.

For the past several years, Woodside Detroit has partnered with The District Detroit to help maintain Cass Park through the city’s standard Adopt-a-Park program.

Sunday’s dinner will be a festive event and will feature an Italian dinner prepared by D’Amatos in Royal Oak and desserts by Rising Stars Academy nonprofit culinary school. There will be Christmas caroling and music performed by the church’s worship art team.

“It’s a good opportunity for people to enjoy the holiday with friends and family and to celebrate people from all walks of life,” said Megan Majewski, Family Ministry Director at Woodside Detroit. “It’s also a night to serve the community free of charge, to whomever.” All attendees with receive a free Christmas gift and no RSVP is required.

The evening affair will service local agencies and residences including Mariners Inn; Neighborhood Service Organization; Cots, the Coalition on Temporary Shelter; the NOAH Project and Cornerstone Estates (formerly the Jeffries East public housing project). Majewski said nearly 400 people attended the annual event last year.

Led by Pastor Tim Holdridge, Woodside Detroit is one of 14 Woodside Bible Church locations in the region. Since its 2011 opening, the church has hosted its weekly services at the Detroit School of Arts Ford Theater.

Woodside Detroit’s Family Christmas Dinner is one of many volunteer activities the nonprofit organization provides every year.
