Mentalist Duo ‘The Clairvoyants’ to Perform Interactive Show at MotorCity Casino Hotel’s Sound Board
Native Austrians Thommy Ten and Amélie van Tass have been stunning crowds around the world with their breathtaking mentalist talent for more than five years.
The group, who perform under the moniker “The Clairvoyants,” will make their Detroit debut Thursday, May 3 at Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel. The stop in the Motor City is part of the group’s U.S. tour, “The Clairvoyants LIVE,” which will take a brief break in June for an open-air circuit in Europe and then resume in September.
Many Detroiters learned of the group on Season 11 of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” where American audiences voted them “Runner-Up.” But the duo has been stunning crowds at private events, on cruises and on Broadway for years. The New York Times called their mind-reading act with the worldwide traveling magic show, THE ILLUSIONISTS, "top-notch" in 2016.
Since their major TV appearance, The Clairvoyants have appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and have earned numerous accolades including “Stage Magicians of the Year 2016” from The Academy of Magical Arts and The Magic Castle Hollywood.
Just two days before the show, the duo told The District Detroit that Sound Board event-goers can expect a unique and interactive show.
“People are not only sitting in the audience, they will be a part of the show! A lot is going to happen right in the middle of the audience, between the people, but we also invite a lot of people up on stage,” said Thommy Ten. “The magic is going to happen in their minds and hands; that’s what makes the show special and different. Every night is different because it’s all about peoples’ minds and what they bring to the show.”
He added that the duo will show acts from “America’s Got Talent,” among other popular appearances, and will help people realize “that everyone can create wonders if they get in touch with those abilities.”
“Our tour schedule is very tight but we always try to get the most out of it. That’s what is so great about touring through the U.S. - we are able to see all different sites of the country and we are finally able to meet the people who voted us as runner-up on ‘America’s Got Talent!’”
Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are still available here.
