Neighborhood Advisory Committee Members Tour Construction Site

Members of the Detroit City Council-appointed Neighborhood Advisory Committee were invited to the Detroit Events Center construction site last week for an exclusive on-site look at the progress being made there.

The group was joined by NAC Liaison Rod Blake on a tour of the site led by Sean Hollister, Project Manager for Barton Malow-Hunt and White.

Paul Hughes, NAC Chairman, is one of the first guests to have walked on the area that will become center ice. After the tour, he said that cooperation between Olympia Development and the NAC has been good.

"We've been out to share all this with the whole of the community to reassure them that what you're going to see is going to be good,” said Hughes. “Everyone seems pretty happy with what you are doing."

“Meeting with the Neighborhood Advisory Committee is a great forum where we can have a direct conversation with the community on this project,” said Blake. “We have a very cooperative relationship.”

Members of the committee where chosen by Detroit City Council and the community.

Olympia Development and other representatives of The District Detroit project have met with the NAC regularly since the committee was created in February 2014 to ask questions and communicate matters of interest to the community.
