Volunteers Give Cass Park a Makeover

Cass Park Clean Up Thumb

The Cass Park Village neighborhood near Little Caesars Arena got a makeover recently—a Motor City Makeover.

Volunteers cleared branches, debris and trash from the streets and sidewalks that surround Cass Park, one of Detroit’s oldest city parks. Ilitch Holdings has sponsored the Motor City Makeover event for the past three years and this month also enlisted the help of volunteers from Ilitch companies to pitch in the effort.

Motor City Makeover is an annual city-wide program in which hundreds of residents and volunteers fan out across Detroit throughout May to clean up parks and neighborhoods.

Cass Park is the centerpiece of the Cass Park Village neighborhood, an exciting residential area being revitalized between Little Caesars Arena and Cass Tech High School—one of five neighborhoods that make up The District Detroit.

Cass Park was also named one of the best maintained parks in the city of Detroit’s Adopt-A-Park program.  Olympia Development of Michigan has partnered with Woodside Bible Church to clean-up, mow and maintain the four-acre park.

Olympia Development of Michigan is planning to continue investing in the maintenance of Cass Park for years to come, making a sustained effort for the community and residents who call the neighborhood home.

Adoption of Cass Park is one of many initiatives announced as part of the Community Connect program, an important element of The District Detroit development. Through Community Connect, Olympia Development of Michigan will ensure that this transformational project directly supports the Detroit community.
