Little Caesars Arena Granted an Unprecedented Four NCAA Events Before Venue Opens

The NCAA announced today that Little Caesars Arena will be the host site for three Division I Men's sporting events, in addition to rounds 1 & 2 of the 2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Championships, which was announced in November, 2014. This means the venue has been awarded four events before its opening in September, 2017.

The innovative Art in The District Detroit program will engage students, faculty, community members and professional artists in the design, creation and installation of public art in The District Detroit. Ilitch Charities and ODM will invest $800,000 to fund this innovative class at the Detroit-based CCS, as well as to manufacture and install the resulting public artworks.

Contract Awards to Detroit Businesses Now Top $300 Million

The Detroit Downtown Development Authority recently approved a number of contracts on behalf of Olympia Development of Michigan for work on the new Little Caesars Arena that raise the total dollars awarded to Detroit-based or -headquartered businesses to $308 million - nearly 60 percent of the total awarded, eclipsing Olympia Development’s 30 percent goal for Detroit business participation by nearly double. Michigan businesses have received $493 million in construction contracts for the project which represents more than 90 percent of total contracts awarded.
