Little Caesars Arena opened its doors in September 2017 as the new home of the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Pistons and world-class live entertainment in the heart of The District Detroit. The arena features state-of-the-art technology, fan amenities and active community spaces like the Via and the Chevrolet Plaza. The construction of Little Caesars Arena positioned Detroit as the only city in America that houses all four of its professional sports teams in an urban core — all within walking distance. Little Caesars Arena, which was named the 2018 Sports Facility of the Year, has a capacity of 19,515 for hockey games, and 20,491 for basketball contests.
