It’s a great time to catch a concert, a comedy show or a hilarious new musical at one of several amazing venues located in The District Detroit. And this week marks the opening of the exciting new show, “Hockey – The Musical!” written by noted author, radio host and playwright Mitch Albom.

The musical debuts at City Theatre on Thursday, May 19 and runs through Sunday, June 19.

The concept is sure to draw theater fans and sports fans alike: When the Lord decides the world has too many sports, He decides to wipe out one – hockey – to teach mankind a lesson. Only five mismatched fans can try and save their beloved game.

"I'm really thrilled about bringing the quirky, lovable elements of hockey into a comic musical,” said Albom. “It's an underdog show for an underdog sport. The laughs and heart that the story is able to dig out, thanks to how much we all love hockey, has made for perhaps the most enjoyable creation I've ever attempted."
